چکیده

About 30% of persons over 65 are subject to at least one fall during a year. A number of published studies identify statistical relations between risk factors and the probability of fall in terms of odds ratios. However such information has been exploited only partially to build fall risk assessment tools. In this paper we introduce a tool based on the representation of risk factors as odds ratios. Such representation is exploited to automatically build a computational logic probabilistic program to compute the fall risk of the subject given the presence/absence of risk factors in his/her status. The outcome is an LPAD program based on the more recent knowledge about fall risk factors. It can evaluate the fall risk of a given subject and can be easily updated with new findings in scientific literature.

FRAT-up, a Web-based Fall-Risk Assessment Tool for Elderly People Living in the Community

BACKGROUND About 30% of people over 65 are subject to at least one unintentional fall a year. Fall prevention protocols and interventions can decrease the number of falls. To be effective, a prevention strategy requires a prior step to evaluate the fall risk of the subjects. Despite extensive research, existing assessment tools for fall risk have been insufficient for predicting falls. OBJECT...
